Personal:

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

So I decided that my goals of 20,100 push ups/sit ups each was a lil too crazy and changed it to 20,100 total combined. Or maybe I'm just a pansy.  Oh well =P

Ah..Skipping tonight's run. Not feeling too good. Been sick with a cold for the past week. Been taking dayquils and vitamin C but not really helping too much. I had to take a dayquil the morning on the 10k too! I hope this is over soon. I'm trying to put in 60 miles this week.

Sam, I had made goals at the start of this year to do 20,100 push ups and sit ups each. Instead I'm just gonna add them both up to equal 20,100. I'll still do the push up/sit up challenge. Just haven't been feeling to great the past week.

Not good man. Hope you start feeling better. Get that cold looked at if I was you. Might need to get some meds to finally kick it. What a pain.

As for the the goal of pushup and sits up. I would still go with your old goal. Just keep working towards it.

I hope you get feeling better soon. You are smart to take a little running break to let your body rest.

Thanks KP! Feeling slightly better...

Mark - Thanks! I think it's allergies or something. Hopefully it's gone by this weekend. The push up/sit up goal was a lil too much I think. I mean I know I can definitely do it but I'm not sure I want to spend the extra time to do it. I would rather focus on running/swimming which is more important to me.

Thanks Michelle. I'm still planning on trying to hit 60 miles this week haha. 8 more tonight and 2 10's tomorrow. We'll see if I can do it.
