Personal:

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

5:30 pm - so I decided to do a 1 hour run....max effort although I did hold back the first 4 minutes (7:45-8:00 pace). I hit 6.2 at 44:20. Here are my splits. I felt great, hopefully I can run my half next month at this pace.

mile 1 - 7:31

mile 2 - 7:02

mile 3 - 6:57

mile 4 - 7:00

mile 5 - 7:10

mile 6 - 7:13

mile 7 - 7:18

mile 8 - 7:08

last .4 miles - 6:51 pace

Total time 1 hour - 8.4 miles (7:08 pace)

Thanks Sandy! 4am is the only time I can squeeze in a run before work. I'm at work by 6am. I know, I'm crazy but I gotta make the sacrifice =)

You are AMAZINGLY speedy.

I love the "if it ain't raining it ain't training" part.

Thanks Kelli! How about you decide on the number of push ups and we'll do it together. 2010 is gonna be a great year for both of us!

nice run(s) Vinh. good practice for your half.

push ups add up much faster than miles, so you'd better make it a big number

VERY AWESOME 2-a-day runs!!! IMPRESSIVE splits! GOOD LUCK at the Riverfront Half next month. Some of us are running the St. George Half next month. Your training is looking GOOD!

From vinh on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 22:12:23 from 71.68.254.197

Thanks Cal! I will definitely be doing way more push ups than mileage.

Smooth - Thanks! Good luck on you half marathon as well. I know you'll do awesome.

Vinh Nice consistant splits well done, shows you held pace very well and did a pr in training fantastic :-)

I know sacrifices and early hours do go together, I am not a morning person I rarely jump outta bed LOL

but marathon training starts in Jan 2010 twice a day running, although my training is 18 weeks from 20th Dec, but gonna leave the early mornings till the new year hey hey
