Personal:

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

So I know I should have taken it easy today since I ran 21 on Saturday but I felt too good today. No soreness/pain and full of energy. The weather today was sunny in the afternoon, 63F but with winds 20 mph. I felt great during/after the run, my splits would have probably been a lil faster w/o the wind but I wasn't trying to push it too hard today. Just marathon to slightly faster pace and then a good push at the end.

From Burt on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 19:36:19 from 206.19.214.144

Very nice. You're getting so fast you're not going to know what to do with yourself.

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 23:47:47 from 174.23.232.65

Sounds like a great run especially after a 21 miler on Sat. You're getting stronger and stronger! GOOD JOB!

Nice bounce back run after your long on Saturday. You are clearly ready to hit your marathon goal time. Keep training smart.

From vinh on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 08:40:00 from 75.77.22.187

Thanks Burt! Haha, I wish!

Smooth - Thanks! I'm feeling great and even better with your support!

Lyman - Thanks! Always glad to have your advice/support!

Great run after doing 21 miles! You are getting really strong to be able to run like that. I am glad you weren't sore. Keep up the good work.

From SlowJoe on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 10:39:58 from 131.59.200.80

Yeah, I don't know anything about marathons but I can do math and I say you PR that marathon by 30-45 minutes. Good run.

From vinh on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 12:14:32 from 75.77.22.187

Thanks Michelle! I feel strong, hopefully it'll last up until the marathon. Let's hope for no injuries.

Joe - Thanks, I think I should be able to cut 30 mins off my pr, 40-45 min would be awesome though!

From missy on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 13:58:59 from 71.35.244.238

Vinh!!! Nice run. :) I'm with you on that one...I like to go for it if I feel good...even if I'm supposed to run slower that day..Otherwise I feel constrained by a schedule too much. My TRI coaches are going to get mad at me..LOL

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 17:20:19 from 90.195.99.79

Ha ha Missy you sound like me, love the hard training eh!

Vinh- now you havent blogged since, hope all is okay? I have researched the cytomax, looks good, gonna order some wooohooo, but cant get the amino vital over here, not sure if customs would let it through ??? maybe in powder form, but im useless with powders and mixing very lazy with it, as I have such a busy life I dont have time not sure but may give it whirl anyways :-D

From vinh on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 18:48:43 from 71.68.254.197

Missy! Yea yesterday was one of those days. I felt amazing, I could have probably ran all day! I'm glad I have FRB, everyone here is my coach! I have lots to learn about running/training.

Sam - yea, sorry I've been napping since my weight lift session earlier lol. I use the Amino Vital powder. I tend to get lazy as well, but hey if you need me to..I'll buy it and ship it to you. Just let me know =P

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 06:06:42 from 78.32.130.9

Oh Vinh your such a kind Dude thanks for the offer..... I think I found a place that will ship uk so gonna see with the powder, if I have problems I will call on you for it thanks :-D)))

p.s glad you got a nap in, i just cant nap at the moment urghhhh! but I need to :)

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 06:51:53 from 78.32.130.9

ok what do you use, is it amino vital pro or endurance and whats with the conditioning tablets ahhhhhhh??????

From vinh on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 07:03:20 from 75.77.22.187

Sam - no problem, I wouldn't mind doing that for you. I got the amino vital free trial packets from Athlinks. It's just the regular mix. I looked on their website and it looks like Amino Vital Pro would probably be better. I have no idea about their conditioning tablets. I might have to pick up some more Amino Vital myself.
