Personal:

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

So I'm still debating on which marathon I would like to run in the fall. I'm thinking I can just try to register for St. George and see if I can get it again. Only thing I'm worried about is the elevation that I won't be used to. It killed me last time. What to do? Chicago Marathon is already full so I can't run that one....

Well you know what most of our answers would be. ST GEORGE!!!!! I just finished up running the runners series to get in. Sure hope that if you decide that you get in too. From some of my friends that have ran it from Texas and Az. Say they didn't even feel the elevation change at all. So my vote is for ST GEORGE!! And then you can run it with us.

I'm pretty sure the "unbiased" answer to your question by most of the bloggers will be St. George. What about Nashville rock and roll?

From vinh on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 06:58:01 from 75.77.22.187

Mark - I thought the elevation wasn't going to bother me either but it did for some reason. I wasn't really prepared for the hills/downhills last year either. I think I might just sign up and see if I get lucky in the lottery.

Burt - Are you gonna run STG?

I have no suggestion for your fall marathon but I hope you are able to get into the one you choose!

I will if I win the lottery.

Nashville Rock and Roll is next month. He is looking for a Fall marathon. Come on, Burt!

From Burt on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 12:02:03 from 206.19.214.144

KP - I was just trying to be cordial. It's like when you ask someone how they're doing when you really don't care to know. LOL!

St George, of course!!! If you don't get in; then Top of Utah! But I hope you get in! No worries on the altitude. My 65 y.o. friend from N.C. and 61 yo friend from Mich. says they never notice it. These guys run BQ time in Utah! :)

KP - Thanks for keeping Burt on his toes!

Burt - lol, gee thanks!

Smooth - I would love to run it with everyone from the blog. I guess I'll have to decide soon. There are a few other factors I have to consider before I make a decision.

Sam - haha I wish. Are you planning on running that in the Fall?
