My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

13 miles at a slow, easy 8:25 pace. Decided to run during the hottest part of the day, even though it was only in the mid 70's. Ran without any water/gu. Had no cramping or hydration issues. Also ran every hill I could on my usual route. Good training session today. Next few runs will be tempo runs to prepare for the upcoming 10k. Will be shooting around a 6:45 - 7:00 pace during the tempos. I'm thinking this upcoming 10k will not be a huge PR by any means. There is gonna be 30,000+ people and there is about a 1.2 mile 4% incline. I'll be happy with a sub 45 but I should be able to run a 10k in a sub 43. I guess we'll see how it goes.

My weekend/Today was freaking fantastic...but right now I am having a massive sugar crash and a huge headache from it..haha....can only be on top of the world for so long. I am too tired to make a race report...Used up all my energy..but my race was good. Everyone here makes cute amazing race reports..I might attempt that tomorrow..haha.

Can't wait to hear about it Missy! My weekend is boring as always lol. Nothing special. Plan on lifting weights tomorrow. Maybe squeeze in a lil run. Then UFC tomorrow night. Nice video btw. I never stretch as much as I should. I heard the more flexible you are, the fast you can get.
