My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

Ran around the West Valley Fitness Center. 4 progressive miles, recovery mile, then 1 fast mile. Felt good. Plan on running with Mark tomorrow. I believe we are doing some track work.

Joe - Thanks! I actually didn't feel any effects of the altitude this time around. Thank goodness! I'm glad I got in some hill training before the race. Hopefully I'll be ready for it. I hope you recover soon. I hate being injured.

Allie - Thank you =) I'll be as ready as I can be. I actually wished I had an extra month of training. I was shooting for a BQ for SGM but the ultra I ran in July put a kink in my training schedule. I should be able to PR at least. You are running awesome this year!
