Personal:

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

Thanks Smooth! It's getting a lot easier to run my marathon pace w/o much effort, but we'll see how far that goes during my marathon haha.

Looking good Vinh! That should be a good confidence builder for the marathon and the half-marathon this weekend.

Huan - Thanks! I'm getting pumped for the half this Saturday.

Missy - Thanks but I'm not sure if I can keep up with you though. Maybe only on your easy days =P If all goes well, I plan on moving to Utah in a couple years or less. We could do some runs together then!

Lyman - Thanks. I plan on doing a 6 miler today and 2 miles tomorrow (strides). Gonna see if I can pull off a sub 1:40.

Burt - I got my singlet done at a local t-shirt printing shop here. It was like $10 I think. Sometimes my company sponsors me and pays for my races. They paid for STG last year and were almost going to pay for my plane ticket too but decided not to. I can't complain though.

Sam - Thanks! I will make you proud this weekend. Hopefully haha.

What is going on in the world that 8:12 is an easy pace? WOW, you really are speedy. I am getting more and more excited to see how this marathon turns out. It is going to be AMAZING!
