Personal:

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I'm 28 years old, former Marine...

Started running when I joined the military in 1999. I did not enjoy running until 2006-7 when I started training for my first marathon. In the Marines, we ran an average of 3-5 miles. I never ran any distances longer than that until I started training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 2007.

Currently working as a government contractor (electronics technician).

I finished my Associates of Science in August and have finally been able to train hard full time. I decided to take time of school to see how much of a difference it will make and maybe hopefully achieve my goal and qualify for Boston.

So I know I should have taken it easy today since I ran 21 on Saturday but I felt too good today. No soreness/pain and full of energy. The weather today was sunny in the afternoon, 63F but with winds 20 mph. I felt great during/after the run, my splits would have probably been a lil faster w/o the wind but I wasn't trying to push it too hard today. Just marathon to slightly faster pace and then a good push at the end.

Upper body and core workout. No run today. Just trying to let the body rest. Plan on a short easy run tomorrow and a long run Thursday.

So this morning, I felt pretty crappy and was kind of dreading my 16 mile run I had to do after work. After a full day at work (felt better), I came home and went straight on to my run. Surprisingly felt great during the whole run. I felt I could have ran a sub 3:40 marathon pretty easily today.

First 13 miles were at an 8:15 avg pace (easy) with a couple of marathon pace miles in there (not on purpose).

Last 3 miles in 7:35, 7:28, 7:16.

Total time 2:09:34 (avg 8:05 pace)
